August 16, 1968 - May 28, 2025
Salik Talley, age 56, was called home to his eternal rest on May 27, 2025, in Statesboro, Georgia.
Salik was born on August 16, 1968, in Tofol, Kosrae, in the Federated States of Micronesia. He was the son of Ansilina Melander Rasa and the late Osamu Talley. Salik grew up in Kosrae and Pohnpei before moving to America.
Salik was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and son. He was a hardworking man who was passionate about providing for his family. He dedicated 20 years of service to Seasons of Japan and had served as manager for several years before his passing. He was patient, kind, and served others with enthusiasm. He loved playing baseball and listening to music. He especially enjoyed blasting music in his truck, singing out loud, and was often found dancing around the house to his favorite songs. He was easygoing, quick to laugh, and always tried to make others laugh by being silly. He didn’t let negativity bring him down and believed in forgiveness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Osamu Talley; his brother, Norwood Talley; and his aunts and uncles, Lorenso Melander, Detrick Melander, Alice Joseph, Atchiro Melander, Alma Waguk, Godfrey Talley, Rosie Shrew, Shrue Sisiwo, and Elma Sailus.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Merry Talley, and his cherished children: John Santos, Joanlynn Bonabard, Fred Josey, Freeman D. Talley, Prichty D. Hairens, Prichtylynn Hairens, and Beverlynn Hairens. He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Ansilina Rasa; his dear siblings: Morinson Talley, Timothy Raza, Akin Rasa, Dalia Rasa, Joseph Rasa, Cathlin Rasa, Cathlina Rasa, Alfonso Rasa, and Kenye Sadako Rasa. His memory will be forever treasured by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all who knew and loved him.
Salik leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family. His gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and joyful presence touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones. We find comfort in knowing that he is at peace, resting in the eternal embrace of his Creator. Until we meet again, Salik will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Seiloak Mwahu.
