Deacon Ronald L. Owens, the oldest son of late Virgil Owens and Willie Bell Owens-Blunt, entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2024.
He was born on November 7, 1959, in Statesboro, Georgia.
He graduated from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida in 1977. Later, he met Geneva Cox and they were married on January 19, 1985, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They later moved to Statesboro, Georgia.
He was a member of Johnson Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and helped with the youth department. He loved fishing and his old school gospel and R&B music, sports, and loved going to plays and concerts. He read all the time, he was great with kids, loved people, and would help anyone in need if he could.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife, Geneva Cox-Owens of Statesboro, GA; daughter, Brenisha Owens of Claxton, GA; son, Vernon D. (Charlisa) Osgood of Statesboro, GA; grandchildren, Harmony and Canyon; two brothers, Dedrick Owens and Lance (Retha) Owens; nephews and nieces, Shelby, Benjamin, Noah, Dominique, and Lance Owens; and a host of other relatives and friend.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Hill’s Mortuary, from the hours of 4 P.M. to 7 P.M.
The funeral services for Deacon Ronald L. Owens will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Johnson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. S. Maurice Hill, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
