Roger Curtis Brannen

Roger Curtis Brannen, Sr. of Sylvania passed Monday evening, March 19, 2023 at the Pineview Health and Rehabiliation Facility.

He was born on the Oliver Family Farm to Ralph Morgan and Exie Mae Oliver Brannen and had attended the Screven County Schools. He enlisted in the Georgia National Guard and served for many years. He returned to the southeast where he was a welder in Brunswick and Augusta. He was employed with Rockwell and the Sylvania Ford Tractor Dealership before the establishment of his family business, B & B Service Station, where he delivered fuel and oil throughout the county.

During those years he would sponsor The B & B Softball Team. Later he established and operated the Brannen Auction Company. Lastly, he was employed for the Screven County Board of Commissioner's as a machine operator and with the logging and road sign division, until his health would not permit. He was a charter member and deacon of the Farmdale Baptist Church, former Rotarian, and past president, and member and board member of the Georgia Auctioneer's Commission. He loved Georgia sports and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. But above all, his greatest passion was hosting and cooking for the many family functions and holidays.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy Michelle Brannen Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest Hamilton and Helen Blackburn Bazemore; siter-in-law and brothers-in- law, Terri B. and Robert Chadwick, Robedrt B. Bazemore, Johnny M. Bazemore, and Ernest H. Bazemore, Jr.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Sandra Bazemore Brannen; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Cindy Brannen, all of Sylvania; son-in-law, David Smith of Dublin; grandsons, Justin Brannen of Sylvania, Dylan B. Smith of Dublin; great-grandson, Case David Smith; sister-in-law, Vera P. Bazemore of Sylvania, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services to be announced.

Interment will follow in the Farmdale Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Rick Chadwick, Mathew Chadwick, Rob Bazemore, Michael Bazemore, Myles Willis, Avery Willis, Michael Waters, and Mathew Waters.

Honorary pallbearers will be former members of the B & B Softball Team, Deacons of Farmdale Baptist Church, Sam Robinson, and Billy Lane.
