
Norma Jean Spann passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 11, 2022 in Jersey City, New Jersey after a short illness. She was born on August 3, 1950 in Bulloch County, Georgia to Aurelia Hogan and the late Johnny Spann.
At an early age Norma accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She joined Mt. Zion AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Foster where she was active in Sunday School.
Norma was a graduate of William James High School in Statesboro, Georgia. She was a member of the Class of 1968. She is remembered by classmates as having an outgoing personality and having fun in music class.
In 1969 Norma relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey where she attended Computer School and worked for various companies as a credit analyst.
Norma found her way to Bethany Lutheran Church where she worked diligently for the Lord. Additionally, Norma was the church Financial Secretary for many years.
Norma was a devoted mother to her son Tremaine. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her son.
Norma was predeceased by her father Johnny Spann, Grandmothers Martha Spann and Aurelia Byrd.
Surviving to cherish Norma’s precious memory; her beloved son, Tremaine Jeffries; beloved mother, Aurelia Hogan; four sisters, Johnnie Pearl Lee (Izell), Deborah Scott, Vester Woodham (Jimmy) Dorethea Hogan (Roger); three brothers, Barry Hogan (Raquel), Earl Hogan (Jance) and Carl Hogan; Godson, Terrance Smith; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December, 17, 2022 at 9:00a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2015 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07305.
