Mr. Noel Jack Williams, age 85, entered rest, Monday, January 8, 2023, at his residence under the care of Compassus Hospice, his loving wife and family.
The Chatham County native was born, November 26, 1938, to the late Jack and Zadell Jones Williams. He received his formal education in the Chatham County Public School System and was a graduate of the Alfred E. Beach High School class of 1957.
He served his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Palen United Methodist Church (now Canaan) where he served faithfully for many years until his health failed. He served the Palen United Methodist Church as a Lay Leader, as president of the United Methodist Men, and treasurer of the United Methodist Men. He also served as the trustee of the worship committee and sung in Men’s Choir and Gospel Choir.
As a proud graduate of the A.E. Beach High School class of 1957, he served as chairman of the Sunshine Committee of the class of ’57.
Mr. Noel Jack Williams was a former merchant seaman and retired the from Southern States Company after 26 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his sons, Derwin Smith and Gregory Holmes, and a brother, Ronald Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy L. Hall Williams, Savannah, GA; sons, Noel T. (Marie) Williams, Michael J. Williams, and Stevie L. Holmes, all of Savannah, GA; daughters, Seanita Folks, Snellville, GA, Brannilyn Adam, Salisbury, NC., Jacqueline (Kevin) Morris, Riverdale, GA, Teresa Williams, Savannah, GA and Robin (Jerry) Lanier, Statesboro, GA; a sister, Jewell Dunlap, Springs, TX; a daughter-in-love, Inez Holmes, Ludowici, GA; 31 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Noel Jack Williams, will be held, Friday, January 12, 2024, at 11 am, at the Canaan United Methodist Church 2401 Elgin Street Savannah, Georgia 31404, with the Rev. Franklin Fletcher pastor, presiding and the Rev. Kenneth Griffin, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Mr. Williams will lie in state at church on the day of service, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.
