Linda Carol Teran

January 14, 1941 - June 9, 2023

Linda Carol Teran, 82, of Statesboro, GA, formerly of Kilbourne and Peoria IL, passed away on June 9th, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Linda was born on January 14, 1941, to Elza & Lorena Lacey Anderson. She was preceded in death by her son Jeff Baker, who she never felt truly left her side.

Linda is survived by her husband, Estuardo “Stu” Teran; daughter, Kim Baker (Dave Yocum); brother, Robert Anderson (Barb Plack); sister, Shirley Morgan; grandsons, Brandon (Tara) Lynn and Kolton Sidwell; granddaughters, Kayla (Chris) Tomlinson and Jessica (Zach) Lawson; great-grandchildren, Ava Lynn, Brady Lawson, Piper Lawson, Caroline “Liney” Lawson, Jacob Tomlinson, Hannah Tomlinson, and Maya Sidwell. Linda is also survived by her nieces Shari (Paul) Walliker, Michelle Anderson, and Victoria Anderson, and one great-niece Brianna Bleichner. Linda was blessed with many who felt like family but notably Carol (Bob) Froelich, Joyce Sielschott, and Cindy Freund.

After graduating from Balyki High School, Linda was married to Al Baker and soon after had her son Jeff. Linda often reminisced on his wily nature, using a yardstick to remove photos from the walls, no crib railing ever high enough to contain him, her little shadow. Not long after, her daughter Kim was born, the easy baby God designed to someday become a best friend. Linda delighted in watching her children grow with her longtime best friend Joyce Sielschott, working constantly to keep them all out of trouble by anticipating their very creative, and often daring, past times.

Linda moved to Peoria, IL in the late 1980s. It was here that she would meet the love of her life. Linda adored going dancing and one night at the Holiday Inn fate introduced her to her soulmate, Stu. Linda and Stu fell madly in love and started their new adventure by eloping in Las Vegas on June 1, 1989. From that moment forward, they were inseparable and fulfilled their vows in every sense of the word. In their 34 years, they created a life filled with adventure, excitement, a few misread map directions, and a whole lot of love. Together they created a home and life filled with contagious joy and magic.

A woman of many hobbies, Linda enjoyed golf, antique restoration, boating, camping, going for walks, traveling, and watching movies (even the terrible ones Stu picked out which she secretly liked the best). An avid gardener, Linda created an oasis in her backyard. As gardens tend, hers reflected the joy and wonder she brought to life. It was filled with brilliantly colored flowers, striking statues, and most importantly a habitat for her cardinals to thrive. Linda believed life was best lived around a good meal, good music, and good company. It is no surprise people would flock to her and meeting a stranger was impossible.

Linda was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma “GiGi," sister and aunt. She leaves her family filled with memories that will last a lifetime and a legacy of love that will survive the generations. In November of 2015, Linda and Stu moved to Georgia to be closer to family. The couple made Statesboro their home where Linda spent many hours gardening and spending time in the yard. Her impact on this world and her family echoes vibrantly in the following dedication from her husband, Stu:

“Linda Carol was and will always be the love of my life, from the moment I saw her I knew there was something special about her. Full of life, she loved to dance, her flowers and her yard were always beautiful. Her cooking got my whole heart. The love for her family was immeasurable, even animals could sense her kindness. You will live in my heart forever. God has a special place for you in Heaven, we all love you – Adios my love.”

A celebration of life will be held with details announced at a later date.
