July 4, 1951 — April 13, 2024

Mrs. Karen Dickey Anderson of Statesboro, Georgia, age 72, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 after a brief illness. She was born and spent most of her early life in Screven County and is a 1969 graduate of Statesboro High School.  She married Gene Anderson in 1969, and lived and worked in Statesboro most of her adult life. After retiring from Georgia Southern University, Karen was able to spend her time serving in multiple roles at the church she loved, Brooklet First Baptist Church. Her favorite role was, without a doubt, serving as a Sunday School Teacher for the Fellowship Sunday School Class. However, Karen’s most adored possessions were her children and grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by family and enjoyed frequent family gatherings where her infectious laugh and smile brought joy to everyone.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Kimsey and Mary Ann Dickey, and her brother David J. Dickey.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Anderson and their four children; Brad (Shannon) Anderson, Wesley Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, and Joanna (Marty) Soles all of Statesboro; along with six grandchildren, Reagan (Hunter Devendorf) and Nicholas Anderson, Raylei Nesmith, Grace Bartlett, Trent and Tyler Soles; a brother, Victor (Delores) Dickey and a sister, Michelle (Tony) Rogers, along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Brooklet First Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Brooklet First Baptist with Rev. Patrick McElveen and Fred McCoy officiating.  Interment will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Anderson, Hunter Devendorf, Trent and Tyler Soles.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Brooklet First Baptist Church, PO Box 367, Brooklet, Georgia 30415.
