
John R. "Jackie" Young, made his transition from his earthly home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening,, December 27, 2022 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a native of Quincy, Gadsden County, Florida but had resided in Statesboro for the past thirty plus years. He was a graduate of Carter Panmore High School, a former employee of both Andrews Klean Korner Dry Cleaners and Georgia Southern University.
He was a member of Thomas Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the usher's board.
He is survived by his wife, Celentria Prince-Young, Statesboro,GA; two sons, DeMarko Ward, Sr. (Ayesha), Sylvania, GA and Deigo Prince (Shenae), Vidalia, GA, and a nephew like his own, D'Quan Williams (Nicole) Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; Ziporah Ward, Atlanta, GA, DeMarko Ward, Jr. and Maddox Ward both of Sylvania, GA, Jaiden Ward, Statesboro, GA, Jekhai Prince, Jaden Prince and Eden Prince all of Vidalia, GA; one brother, Ricky Baker (Dashanna), Statesboro, GA; three sisters, Bessie Jeffery, Audrey Shaw and Beverly Baker all of Quincy, FL and Mary Young, Marianna,, FL; his father-in-law, Deacon James Prince Sr. (Reverend Sarah), Statesboro, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shelia Harden (Sam), Cameron Prince (Patricia), Shantell Thomas, Shirley Odom-Barnes, Connie Key, Dawn Mainer and Rose Ann Mercer all of Statesboro, GA, James Prince, Jr., Boston, MA, Shelton Prince (Keisha), Lynn, MA, Perry Williams (Mindy), Arroyo, PR, Sherry Williams, Pawtucket, RI, Kim Wyche (Anthony), Brian Keith Williams (Trimanda) and Anthony Richard Williams (Trina) all of Decatur, GA, Selena Williams, (Dewayne Coleman), Stone Mountain, GA, Renard McClouden, Valdosta, GA, Renae Lowery, Elizabeth, NJ and Alvia Prince, Gray, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
