November 23, 1963 - February 16, 2024
John Alan Brown, born 11/24/1963 from Aiken, SC, passed peacefully on February 16th at the age of 60, in his home that he loved.
John moved to Statesboro, GA with his family in 1973. Inspired by his Mama and Daddy, John became a beloved musician and songwriter, performing locally in Statesboro and surrounding areas. He went on to create two albums: Bare Essentials and Who’s Laughin’ Now. John showed an immeasurable love for family and instilled deep rooted family values such as; respect for others, humility, compassion, honesty, integrity, and his love for the Lord. John never met a stranger and strived to put a smile on everyone’s face either through his music or by cracking jokes. His compassion and love for others was unmatched. He loved to provide for his family and whenever someone was in need, he wouldn’t see them do without, even if that meant he did.
John worked over 40 years with MD Building Products, working as a draftsman, and was a lifelong musician, songwriter, and storyteller. He believed in hard work, rarely missing a day while making a lasting impact on people through his career. John loved reading, fishing, wrestling, movies and tv shows, and being with the ones he loved fiercely. Being one of a kind, the void that he leaves us with is one that could never be filled. He would not want others to grieve as he believed there was a spot for all of us by him in Heaven. John was a father, son, teacher, best friend to many, but most of all he was the perfect example of unconditional love.
John was preceded in death by John Alton Brown (Father), Debra Lynn Brown (Former Wife). John is survived by his six children: Nicki Lee Brown, Jacquelyn Dawn Kelly, John Dylan Brown, Caroline Colby Mitchell, Timothy Hunter Mitchell Sr, Joshua Alan Brown. Along with his children, he is survived by his eleven grandchildren: Jaylin Jewel Napier, Timothy Hunter Mitchell Jr, Grayson Reid Kelly, Jordan Presley Rodriguez, Piper Dawn and Seth Cowan Kelly, William Van Portwood, River Wayne Mitchell, Olivia Wynn Meyer, John Oliver Lawrence Brown, and Baby Beck. Mother: Jeneatte Brown. His brother and sister-in-law: Johnny Brown and Illene Brown. Former wife and long time friend: Lisa Dawn Brown.
