October 23, 1998 — March 27, 2024

Jay Knox was born October 23rd, 1998 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Jay passed away in a tragic car accident on the morning of March 27th, 2024 at the age of 25 years old.

Jay lived and thrived in Statesboro, Ga for 20 years. In school he overcame hurdles, participated in the Boy Scouts earning numerous badges, was a member of the JRTOC and graduated. Jay then moved on to Ogeechee Technical College and received a degree in Automotive Technology. He was the top of his class with numerous certificates and had job offers before he even graduated.  He began his career in 2022 and was absolutely flourishing.

To Jay, family was everything. His family consisted of some blood relations and a chosen few who did not share DNA but had a place in his heart.  He protected these people at all costs and loved them fiercely.

Jay is survived by his Mother, Neshaminy Hisey (Michael Meeks), his sisters, Alexis (Lexie) Knox and Alyssa (Jonathan) Dauzat, his maternal grandparents, Granny Bob (Robert Hisey), MaaMaa (Sharon Hisey), his Auntie Alex, Uncle Thomas and cousin, Kai Kuhn, his Great Grandmother, Mona Hackney, the love of his life Christina McCullough who is carrying his sweet baby girl, Elizabeth Faithly Lynn- and who is also the mother of Ford, Bryson, Easton and Grace
who “Daddy J” loved as his own and JR Nesmith, his long time best friend.

Jay is preceded in death by his Great Grandpa, Darrell Hackney.

Jay was the Gentle Giant. At 6’ 6”, he still gave the best cuddles and hugs that will be sorely missed. Jay loved Toy Story from the time it came out. On family trips to Disney World, he worked on collecting the entire Toy Story gang. It’s a collection that his family will treasure for years to come. Jay’s laugh brought comfort, his dry humor brought light into dark spaces. Jay’s skills could fix anything broken or tune up any vehicle. Jay was a magnet for children because he was always a safe place. Jay would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need- grease stains included. Jay overcame all the odds that the world stacked against him and his family was blessed to have him for 25 years. You will always be loved, Jay. To infinity and beyond.
