George (Smokey) Pelote, Jr. passed away May 30, 2023 at the age of 63. He was a native of Statesboro, Georgia. George served in the United States National Guard. Smokey will always be remembered as a humble man, gentle and kind with a generous heart. He deeply loved his family, his friends and the community of Statesboro.
George was preceded in death by his father George (Buster) Pelote, Sr. and his mother Tibbie Pelote.
He is survived by his uncle, Allen Gerrald and aunt Betty Gerrald, and his aunt, Dot Stewart. Also surviving are cousins Angie Pelote Barns, Deborah Gerrald Sands, Thomas Gerrald, Andy Bowman, Celina Bowman and Johnny Smith. Smokey will always be remembered as a humble man, gentle and kind with a generous heart. He deeply loved his family, his friends and the community of Statesboro.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
