Mrs. Sandra Gail Bethune McDaniel of Sylvania, GA passed away April 19, 2023 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Augusta, GA, to William, Sr., and Bertie Lee Bethune. She was a graduate of the Beech High School, class of 1973, and had attended business college where she studied accounting. She was employed at the Sunbeam Bakery, Big Kay Edwards, Phar-Mor, and her love of children ultimately led her to working at various preschools and daycares. Lastly, she retired as a bus driver for the Screven County Board of Education with 14 years of service. She was a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church and had attended Red Bluff Baptist Church and Believers Church. She was an avid seamstress, taught bible school lessons, loved to color, spend time with her pups and kitties, and had watched every episode of NCIS.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David McDaniel; her mother, Bertie Lee Bethune; brother, William “Gene” Bethune, Jr.; son, Joseph Lee Ruth; and brother-in-law, Joe Prevatte.

She is survived by her father, William Bethune, Sr. of Savannah, GA; daughters; Jennifer (David) Wortham of Bamberg, SC and Dwan (Timmy) Knight of Sylvania, GA; step-sons, David Harold McDaniel, Jr. of Savannah, GA and Charles Michael McDaniel of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Patricia Anastasia ( Staff Sgt. William Drake) Frese of the USAF, Victoria Elizabeth Wortham, who served as caregiver in her final years, Daniel Walston, Aaron Knight, Jr., Liam Gregory Knight, Jason Alexander Knight, Brandon Lee Knight, Trey McDaniel, Jonathan McDaniel, Christopher McDaniel, Jaiden McDaniel, Jessica McDaniel, Rebecca McDaniel, Andrew McDaniel, Alex McDaniel, Skylar McDaniel, Jayden McDaniel, and Piper McDaniel; a great granddaughter, Lily Currier; brothers, John (Tammy) Bethune of Madison Heights, VA and Brad (Tammy) Quakenbush of Rincon; sisters, Margerite Prevatte of Tar Heel, NC, Shelby (Tom) Cadwaller of Kennesaw, GA, and Crystal (Bo) Thorton of Guyton, GA; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 1:00pm at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glenville, GA, with Rev. Larry Scarboro officiating.
