Frank Lewis Sandlin 58, passed away February 22, 2023 after a long illness. Frank was born March 10,1964 in Jackson, MS to the late Lewis and Elaine (Roberts) Sandlin.
Frank attended Statesboro High School and Ogeechee Tech, where he received a certificate in Diesel Mechanics. He was very talented in many trades and soon became an expert in every field of work that he undertook: car repair, body work, electrical work, home repair, anything of which he set his mind. Frank was truly a Jack of All Trades and a Master of All.
Frank was not formally educated in all that he knew. He read and learned on his own and what he learned should never be disputed. For those of you who knew Frank well, you know that he knew everything. If you didn’t believe it, all you had to do was ask him! And for those of you who did not know Frank well, he did know a lot. He was very intelligent and you knew it because he was quick to share his knowledge. The truth is, few of the rest of us had enough information to dispute him and It was in our best interest to just assume he was right. The bottom line, I believe as his sister, who knew him well, he did have our best interests in his heart. Sometimes, he just had a difficult time expressing it well.
Frank is reunited with our parents, Lewis and Elaine Sandlin, our maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary (Chester) Roberts, and our paternal grandparents Lewis and Verona “Mimi” Sandlin. He is survived by his son, Chase Roberts Sandlin, his sister, Denise Upchurch, his nephews, Travis (Katlyn), Seth (Mallory), and Garrett (Caroline) Upchurch, and as Frank believed and often said, his only and forever brother-in-law, John Upchurch.
Lastly, Frank lived life large and left behind many friends and acquaintances. I would like to acknowledge and give heartfelt thanks to Billy and Kelly Leitelt, Tim Barlow, and Laura Perry for being there to support and care for Frank through this difficult journey and in his last days. I appreciate you more than you know. I would also like to thank Nancy Nelson for being my support and as Frank would say now…DuHuh!
