Mrs. Effie Woods Joyce, age 68, died on Friday, June 9th 2023 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. Effie was born in Bulloch County on July 24th 1954. She was a 1972 graduate of Statesboro High School and worked for the City of Statesboro until her retirement in 1987. In her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper and also a substitute school teacher. Effie loved spending time at the coast, loved the outdoors, boating, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by a son, Jereme Miller, and a brother, Carlton Woods.
She is survived by her husband of over 34 years, Ricky Joyce, her mother, Sadie Bunch Driggers her children, Jason Miller (Iris), Keith Joyce (Shelly), Katrina Joyce Rushing (Bobby), and Dawn Miller, her daughter in law, Marty Miller, seven grandchildren, her two brothers, Herman Woods and Jimmy Woods, two sisters, Glynn Dell Edwards and Hazel Hendrix, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family gives special thanks to her loving caregiver, Mony Jenkins, as well as the wonderful staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
