Edgar Dwain Deal

Mr. Edgar Dwain Deal, age 86, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro.

He was born February 2, 1936, to his parents James Cecil and Ollie Mae Alderman Deal, he was born and raised in Bulloch County.

Edgar began his work career with the Georgia Department of Labor and over the years with this career, worked in the Brunswick office, Savannah office and then finally moved back to Statesboro, as an area manager. After his retirement from the Department of Labor, his “entrepreneur spirit” led him to opening his own business, Investment Housing for 17 years.

In recent years, Edgar has made Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church his home church. He will always be fondly remembered for his quick-witted humor, love for his family and his love of hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Shirlee Clark Deal; and 3 sisters, Sue Nell Nessmith, Shelby Jean Ranew and Joy Drapalik.

Surviving are his three sons; Edgar D Deal, Jr (Terri) Deal, Michael (Susan) Deal, and Jeffrey (Lori) Deal; 8 grandchildren are Stephanie, Matthew, Clark, Cohen, Hunter, Brian, Leah and Logan; six 6 great grandchildren and a step-son, Russel Deal.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:30am, at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Fowler officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Cohen Deal, Hunter Durden, Clark Deal, Brian Deal, Ricky Stringer and Keith Kibler
