Dorothy L. Thornton, went to be with the Lord Jesus November 2, 2022.
Dorothy was born in Bulloch County November 26, 1941. She lived in Brooklet, GA almost all her life. September of 2016, she moved to Waco, TX to be near family, after the passing of her late husband.
Dot as she liked to be called, graduated from Bolen-Draughn Business School and spent 30 years in the banking business before retiring.
Dot loved people and caring for people. For several years, she spent a lot of time looking after several friends, taking them to meetings, doctor appointments, etc.
Dot was a Special Grand Page with the Eastern Star at the Macon, GA Convention. She was President of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Dot was also a member of the Rotary Club and the Optimus Club in Statesboro, Ga. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brooklet, Ga.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Henry L. Lowe; her mother, Gertrude E. Lowe; and her Husband Thomas E. Thornton.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Lee and wife Tonya Lee, Jeffery Lee and wife Hilary Lee and stepdaughter Darlene Thornton. Dorothy has six grandchildren Ashley, Amber, Megan, Haylee, Chance and MacKenzie and five great grandchildren Matthew, Aubrey, Alec, Aireth, Amaya.
