David Chester Scoggins of Statesboro, GA passed away on April 27, 2023, after a life well-lived. He was 82 years old, a devoted husband, selfless father, and grandfather.

He was a hard-working businessman with a love for golf. Chester was born on December 2, 1940, to Daniel and Ola Mae Scoggins of DeKalb County, GA. Chester graduated from Clarkston High School.  He worked his way up the corporate ladder in the printing industry from mailroom clerk to Vice President of Steven’s Graphics Inc.  Chester retired early to Ormond Beach, FL. where he enjoyed watching golf, talking politics, mowing the lawn, and doing home repairs with his duct tape. Chester was an avid golfer. Later he settled in Statesboro, GA where he continued to love, small precious moments traveling in his motorhome, spending time with his family, and caring for his wife Maxine.

Chester’s son Greg notes his dad’s ability to “come through like a champ if you needed him,” stating, “What more could a kid ask for.” And the truth is, his family and friends were blessed to know, to love, and to be loved by him. Chester is preceded in death by his brothers, McKee and Alton Scoggins; his sister Katherine Gentry. He is survived by his loving spirited wife, Maxine Joyner Scoggins, of 53 years; their children Dinah Wallace (Robert), Tammy Ake (Jeff), Greg Scoggins(Teresa), Tammy Wilson (Clyde); their grandchildren Bobby Wallace (Danielle), Paige Crowe (Jake), Amy Ake, Scott Ake, Courtney Timmerman (Fuller), Skyler Wallace, Kasey Anderson (Mark), Dalton Scoggins, Alexis Scoggins. Chester is remembered and honored by 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 1:00pm in The Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors, 22757 US 80, Statesboro, GA, 30461. The Scoggins family will receive close family and friends at Chester’s home following the ceremony.
