Craig Stewart Thompson, 74 of Sylvania, passed Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Memorial Health Heart and Vascular Institute surrounded by his family.
Craig was born to Robbie Earl and Anita Stewart Thompson on October 7, 1948. He was reared in the McBride Church and was a graduate of Screven County High School. After the death of his father, he took over the family farm, and hauled cows for the Screven County Stockyard. He retired from Torrington, later Timken, after twenty years as a lippanel operator. He loved fishing, hunting, and watching Street Outlaws and the WWE.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stewart & Jill B. Thompson; grandchildren, Chase and Addie C. Thompson, Drake Thompson, and Slate Thompson, and a great-grandson, Beckham Thompson, all of Sylvania.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home at 3:00pm with Rev. Chad Wall officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00pm.
Interment will follow in the McBride Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chase Thompson, Drake Thompson, Slate Thompson, Josh Sheley, Lewis Sheley, Michael Sheley, Matthew Sheley, Patrick Chance, Cole Bohannon, Ricky Seckinger, and Ricky Dickey.
