Mr. Cecil Van Lewis, age 76, died on Saturday, January 13th 2024 at is home in Rincon, GA. Mr. Lewis was born on November 1st 1947 in Emanuel County, GA. He attended Emanuel County Institute and for the last two years of high school, attended Carlisle Military College in Bamburg, SC, graduating in 1966. That same year he joined the United States Army and served for 11 years. He later served in the Air National Guard and worked at Gulfstream, retiring from both. Van enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling when he was able, and camping. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Mae Lewis, and his parents, Cecil and Mildred Lewis.
He is survived by his son, Cecil Van Lewis Jr., his daughters, Shannon Parker and Jenny Lewis, his brothers, Glen (Christine) Lewis, Stephen Lewis, and Wyler Lewis, his sister, Cecelia (Randy) Tankersley, as well as his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating.
Interment will be at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Garfield, GA.
