Mrs. Betty Hendley Clifton, age 81, entered rest, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
The native of Statesboro, was the daughter of the late, Lawton “Boggie” and Maude Lee Smith Hendley.
She received her formal education in the public school system of Bulloch County and was a graduate of the William James High School class of 1961.
After graduating from High School, she relocated to New York where she began her work career at Elmhurst General Hospital, Queens New York. In the year of 1982, she returned to Statesboro Georgia.
Mrs. Clifton was a former employee of Willingway Hospital and she retired from Georgia Southern University as a custodial technician.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, Brooklet, Georgia.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by eleven siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, James Clifton, Statesboro, GA; a son Garry Hendley (Tonya Hill) McDonough, GA; a granddaughter, Jasmine Hendley (Jonathan Quiller), Orlando, FL, a grandson, Gabriel Christopher Hendley, Smyrna, Ga, a step daughter, Monica Clifton, Jesup, Ga; two sisters, Alma Hendley and Alzena McGrady, both of Statesboro, Ga, a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation for Mrs. Hendley, will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 7 pm to 8 pm in the chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
The funeral service for Mrs. Betty Hendley Clifton will be held 11 am, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, with the Rev. Maurice Hill, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Final rites are entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
