Barbara Ann (Bobbie) Olsson (73) of Nevils, Georgia passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
Bobbie was born February 2, 1950, to Roscoe and Cora Roberts and was the youngest of five children. She lived her entire life in Nevils and, along with her parents, was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church. Bobbie worked at Brooks Instruments in Statesboro for 32 years. Upon her retirement from Brooks, she was employed at FedEx for 17 years. Most recently she worked at Tippins Bank in Claxton. Bobbie loved life and was especially fond of the beach and was an avid collector of Christmas decorations. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and was always looking for the next travel destination, especially with her three sisters who were affectionately known as the Golden Girls. Bobbie loved her children and could often be heard bragging about them, her grandchildren, and great-grands. She was an acquaintance to some, a friend to many, and loved by all. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Olsson, a brother, DeVaughan Roberts, and a sister, Loretta Roberts.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandi (Mike) Thompson of Garfield, a son, Brian (Erika) Scott of Nevils, a grandson, Bryson Scott of Nevils, two granddaughters, Alayna Grace Scott of Nevils, and Nicole (Ben) Martin of Elko, two great grandchildren, Caylee and Jake Martin of Elko, and two sisters, Marie Waters of Nevils and Clara Nell Johnson of Savannah.
Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Trinity Baptist Church Memorial Cemetery. Marty Waters, nephew, will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Denny Haygood, Lanny Roberts, Al Riner, Mike Waters, Ben Martin, and Bryson Scott.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of Tippins Bank.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation.
