Betty Angeleen (Eng) Hendrix Atkinson “Angie”, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Brown’s Rehabilitation, under the compassionate care of Georgia Hospice Care. She was born September 4, 1946, in Atlanta GA to the late Mr. Howard (Josh) Hendrix and Bernice Camp Hendrix.
A 1964 graduate of Lakeshore High School in College Park, GA, Angie attended beauty school in Atlanta GA. Upon her completion her father, Mr. Josh, built her a beauty shop, HH Beauty Shop in College Park GA, which she operated for many years. In addition to being a talented hairdresser she always enjoyed dancing and she never had a motorcycle ride she didn't enjoy. She always considered herself a Georgia Peach, but she had a deep love for Texas and Yorkies. Angie always enjoyed surprising her family with her many adventures; she lived life her way. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly and Rich Elliott, Karen and Bobby Ferguson, Kristy and Chris Shuman and Josh Atkinson; sisters, Gayle Owen and Kathleen Scott; her grandchildren, Chastity and Lisa Snelling, Jeremy and Kasey Ferguson, Chase and Kate Snelling, Arron and Jessie Varela, Alijah and Julie Varela, Danelle and Brandon Eck, Jordan Atkinson, Cheyenne and Adam Whittingham, Cole and Dylan Elliott, Devin and Kaelyn Atkinson; and great grandchildren, Riley Grace, Charlie Raven, Eli, Saylor, Beckham, Lincoln, Mila Kate, Madeline, Elijah and Oliver.
Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Joiner Anderson Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Ralph Cowart officiating.
To honor her memory, please wear something “red” to the service, it was Angie’s favorite color.
