A large crowd came downtown for the return of the Martin Luther King, Jr. parade on MLK Day, Monday, January 16, 2023. Grice Connect live streamed the parade. You can watch it in the story below.
Sophia Johnson and Lakisha Hill with the Bulloch NAACP served as this years parade co-chairs. The parade had taken a two year break due to COVID. There were 62 units in the parade and awards were given for the floats. The parade committee also gave special recognition to Quincy Hills, the 2023 MLK parade Grand Marshal.
Bulloch NAACP extended this honor to Mr. Hills as a token of their appreciation for the work he’s done and continues to do in his service to the students at Langston Chapel Middle School. The NAACP recognized that his service to these students goes beyond the walls of the learning environment, and it is because of this that they bestowed this honor to him.
The parade will passed the courthouse, turned onto West Main Street and eventually finish around Elm Street Church of God. A community service followed.
