Two dead in Monday morning crash at US 25 and US 80; Roadway is blocked

Shortly before 11:30am, a 2003 Chevy S-10 pickup truck was traveling south on US-25 and attempted to negotiate the left curve while passing the intersection at US Highway 80 at too fast a speed. Georgia Power is on scene repairing a damaged power pole, and the roadway will remain blocked until repairs are complete.

Update 2/6/24: Bulloch County Coroner Richard Pylant has identified the victims of the crash, after notifying next of kin. Perry Cobb, 90, and Vendora Cobb, 86, were killed in the accident, which has been determined to be the result of Mr. Cobb, the driver, experiencing a medical condition.

According to Georgia State Patrol Post 45 Sergeant Robbie Scott, two are dead following a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 25 this morning.

Shortly before 11:30am, February 5, 2024, a 2003 Chevy S-10 pickup truck was traveling south on US-25 and attempted to negotiate the left curve while passing the intersection at US Highway 80 at too fast a speed.

The truck left the roadway and hit a culvert before striking a power pole and rolling several times. Both the driver and the passenger were ejected. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Georgia Power is on scene, and the roadway will remain blocked until the line is secured with a new pole.

GSP troopers Christian Clark and Jacob Stansell will remain on scene during the repairs.
