Storage fire briefly closes North Zetterower Avenue

Emergency responders from the Statesboro and Bulloch County Fire Departments quickly brought a storage building fire under control Wednesday evening after a call dispatched them to the 200 block of North Zetterower Avenue.

A storage building fire caused a temporary road closure on North Zetterower Avenue Wednesday evening. Bulloch County 911 received a call around 7:00 PM reporting a fire at 221 North Zetterower Avenue, prompting a response from both the Statesboro Fire Department and the Bulloch County Fire Department.

The fire originated within a storage area located in the bay of a former car wash, situated next to Hendrix Fire Protection. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames emanating from the structure, which was visible from the roadway.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the blaze within minutes of arriving on the scene. Crews remained at the location for approximately an hour to ensure the fire was completely out and to conduct any necessary follow-up.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

North Zetterower Avenue was closed to traffic between Northside Drive East and Parrish Street for a little over an hour while emergency responders addressed the situation. The road has since been reopened. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
