Statesboro Food Bank announces relocation to transition site

The last day of service at the current location on Donnie Simmons Way is Thursday, September 7. The Food Bank will then move to its interim location at 1545-1547 Morgan Way, while the new permanent building is constructed.

September 7 is the last day of service at the old Food Bank site at the former Julia P. Bryant school on Donnie Simmons Way.

The Statesboro Food Bank, a pivotal community resource in the fight against hunger, is excited to share news of its upcoming relocation to a transition location. As part of its ongoing commitment to better serve the community, the Food Bank's current site at 400 Donnie Simmons Way, Statesboro, GA 30458, will officially close on September 7, 2023, the final day of service at this location.

During this interim period, the Food Bank will continue its vital work from a transition location at 1545-1547 Morgan Way, Statesboro, beginning September 11 and 12, 2023. This transition location, positioned on Veteran’s Parkway/Bypass near the intersection with 301N, marks a significant step forward in the Food Bank's journey to enhance its services and expand its reach.

The Food Bank Meal Boxes will be available by appointment on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Office Hours for Deliveries are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday-Friday.

"We are enthusiastic about this transitional phase, which allows us to maintain our services as construction planning progresses on our new facility," said Sheila Stewart-Leach, the executive director of the Statesboro Food Bank. "The new facility, slated to open in early 2024, will empower us to make an even greater impact on hunger and community well-being."
