On Thursday, August 24th, the Statesboro Exchange Club held its annual Strikeout Child Abuse Bowling Tournament at The Clubhouse in Statesboro. The event was presented by Pestmaster Services of Statesboro this year.
"The Statesboro Exchange Club puts on this event each year to help several non-profit organizations throughout the county and community," said Exchange Club President Jeff Leggett. "Our basis at the Exchange Club is to prevent child abuse. So a lot of the money raised from these fundraising events goes towards local foundations that focus on child abuse prevention. We utilize a bowling tournament to be a fun way for the community to engage with our organization while raising money for charity."
The family-friendly event welcomed all ages and bowling skill levels for an evening of fellowship and fun. Cash prizes were given to the top 2 scoring teams.

The event also featured a silent auction portion for attendees to bid on donated prizes. All proceeds from the event will go towards several of the Statesboro Exchange Club's Child Abuse Prevention Projects.
Statesboro Exchange Club Treasurer, Christina Harrell, said, "We had 1 presenting sponsor, 1 strikeout finale sponsor, 16 lane sponsors, and 32 teams sign up. So, a total of 50 teams signed up. We had 22 table sponsors and 17 shootout sponsors, as well. Last year, we raised $22,685, and we hope to surpass that this year. We would like to thank Pestmaster Services for being our presenting sponsor this year, as well as, thank all of our other supporting sponsors this year."
The official fundraising total for the event will be announced later in September.
