As a preventive measure to ensure the safety of all citizens the Statesboro Police Department will be strictly enforcing the state curfew law after the high school football game at Paulson Stadium tonight.
The state curfew requires that any person under the age of 18 who is out after midnight and not being directly supervised by their parent is subject to a citation.
The police officers want you to enjoy the game and then go immediately home.
Erk Russell Classic
The games are being held tonight, Saturday, Aug. 26, and include four local football teams who will play at Paulson Stadium for the annual Erk Russell Classic.
The event is sponsored by the Heritage Group of the Eagle Football Alumni Association and will begin at 6 p.m when Burke County and Effingham County are set to face off.
Statesboro and Southeast Bulloch will follow with a 9 p.m. start. This game is not expected to get over until near midnight. That is what concerns SPD officers.
Tickets can be purchased at Paulson tonight for $15, with proceeds going to the Heritage Group.
The Eagle Football Alumni Association started the Classic in 2012 to honor the legendary coach and as a fundraiser to endow Georgia Southern football scholarships.
Parking will be $5, and all normal Paulson Stadium regulations will apply. For more information, please contact a participating school or email [email protected].
