SHS Pre-K students visit Santa's Workshop to make handmade toys

On Friday, December 8, Statesboro High School construction students welcomed their Pre-K counterparts for the annual Santa's Workshop. The fun event allows the older students to come together with the youngest to build a special Christmas gift they can take home to treasure.

On Friday December 8, SHS Pre-K students made a trip to the SHS construction classroom to visit Santa's workshop and make some special Christmas gifts.

The Santa's workshop experience was made possible by the SHS CTAE students from the Construction Pathway, Early Childhood Pathway, and Audio/Video Technology Pathway.

The older students assisted the Pre-K class in making their handmade toys during the event.

The Santa workshop experience was set up and administered using the help of SHS CTAE students from the Construction Pathway, Early Childhood Pathway, and Audio/Video Technology Pathway. The students who were present assisted the Pre-K class in making their handmade toys during the event.

"The highlight from our Santa's Workshop each year is seeing the joy on the Pre-K student's faces while being in Santa's workshop," Josh Hall, SHS Construction Teacher, said.

"The Pre-K students come in and work alongside a high school student, one-to-one, to build a handmade toy. It's wonderful event where we can see our high school students engage with the Pre-K students as big helpers to little helpers. This year, the Pre-K students made stools, which they got to take home after the event. I'd like to thank our Statesboro High School Administration for being supportive of this event each year and for letting my students out of class to help with Santa's Workshop. Thank you to Mrs. Deal as well for her collaboration in this team effort."

Nancy Deal, Lead Pre-K Teacher, said, "Our Pre-K students look forward to the event each year and take pride in their work and building items at Santa's workshop. In the past, they've built toolboxes, step-stools, and things they can regularly utilize at home. This is something that we do every year and it's something that the kids love. I'm super proud of the construction team for putting this experience together for our Pre-K Students."
