Participants in Ogeechee Technical College's (OTC) Amazon Mechatronics and Robotics Apprenticeship (MRA) program recently contributed a substantial donation of boxed and canned goods to the college's OASIS (Outreach Assisting Students in Shortage) Food Pantry.

The OASIS Food Pantry, established in January 2020, serves OTC students, faculty, and staff facing food insecurity. The pantry has been instrumental in providing meals during holidays and times of need, often relying on donations from the college community.

Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and coordinator of the OASIS Food Pantry, expressed her appreciation for the apprentices' generosity.

"It's heartening to see our OTC community members not only excelling in their professional development but also giving back to their peers," said Snyder. "Their donation will make a tangible difference in the lives of many within our OTC family."

OTC was selected by Amazon as one of only five colleges in the country to host its MRA program, which was established at the college in 2021. Through this initiative, Amazon sends its employees to OTC for hands-on training in advanced manufacturing and robotics. Upon completion, all apprentices return to Amazon facilities to apply their skills in real-world settings. OTC facilitates the training but is not involved in recruiting participants.
