Join Shuman Farms and GS Athletics at Food Lion Statesboro to kick off Vidalia® Onion Season

Be the first in the country to purchase this spring's Vidalia onions! To celebrate the start of the season, Shuman Farms will host an event at the Statesboro Food Lion on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 1pm in partnership with Georgia Southern University Athletics. The event will feature GSU cheerleaders and mascot to kick off the season in style. Customer giveaways will also take place.

Shuman Farms, a leading grower and shipper of Vidalia onions, is excited to announce the start of the Vidalia onion shipping season.

Vidalia onions from Shuman Farms will begin shipping at 8am on April 17th from the Shuman Farms’ facility in Cobbtown, GA, to various grocery stores across the country, including local Food Lion locations in Vidalia, Statesboro, Metter, and Reidsville.

Customers at these locations will have the exclusive opportunity to be the first in the country to purchase Vidalia onions for the season, as they arrive.

To celebrate the start of the season, Shuman Farms will host an event at the Statesboro Food Lion location in partnership with Georgia Southern University (GSU) Athletics. The event will feature GSU cheerleaders and mascot to kick off the season in style. A customer giveaway will take place, offering prizes such as GSU baseball tickets, a Food Lion gift card, and Shuman Farms swag. The event is from 1-2pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2024.

Shuman Farms’ representatives, including President & CEO John Shuman, Director of Sales Brandon Parker, and Director of Marketing Adam Brady, all GSU alumni, will be in attendance.

Food Lion representatives, in addition to the store team, joining the event will be David Brady, Produce Category Manager and Junior Cropps, Commodity Buyer.
