On Friday, May 10, 2024, Mill Creek Elementary hosted its annual “Real Mustangs Read” event to promote school-wide literacy to its students. The event took place from 9:30am-1pm, and multiple community members participated in the interactive event.

The readers ranged from public officials, to local residents, to everyday role models within the community. The overall aim of the event was to emphasize the importance of reading to children in an engaging and memorable way.

"This is the first year that we combined our 'Real Men Read' and 'Real Women Read' into one event: 'Real Mustangs Read'," stated Meagan Hendrix, Mill Creek Elementary School Improvement Specialist for ELA.

"Overall, we've had many community volunteers come read to our students this morning and help promote schoolwide literacy. It's always exciting for our students to have other adults read to them outside of their teachers. Thank you to everyone who participated this year!"
