As Hurricane Idalia moves toward our area, we have taken steps to continue operations through the storm and to keep our patients and staff safe. East Georgia Regional Medical Center has detailed plans to address disaster situations and our staff drills regularly on hurricane scenarios.
The hospital remains open, and our skilled physicians, nurses and other employees are equipped to continue caring for patients in the hospital, as well as those who may come to our emergency department. We have secured surplus supplies including mobile back-up generators and fuel to continue our services without interruption.
Elective procedures have been canceled for August 30, 2023. We will reschedule elective services and surgeries as soon as possible after the storm. Out of an abundance of caution, all East Georgia Medical & Surgical Associates clinics, Statesboro Imaging Center, East Georgia Pain Management Clinic and East Georgia Wound Care Center will be closed on August 30th. Plans to reopen on Thursday, August 31 will be announced on social media.
Throughout the storm, we will keep our patients, their families and our staff updated regularly about any related developments.
