An early morning police pursuit ended in a crash on Lakeview Road at the Dollar General in Statesboro, Georgia on Monday morning March 25, 2024.
At 6:04 AM GSP Post 45 received a request for assistance in a high speed chase that originated in Jenkins County on Hwy. 25.
Preliminary information indicates that the chase began when a Jenkins officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy. 25.
The car headed into Bulloch with speeds in excess of 100 mph.
GSP Troopers and Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies assisted with the pursuit when the car entered into Bulloch County.
The driver continued fleeing officers at high rates of speed and was driving recklessly including driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
The pursuit traveled from Hwy. 25 to the Veteran's Memorial Parkway. The driver traveled a short distance on the Parkway before turning around and heading back to Hwy. 25/80 traveling east toward the City.
The vehicle then turned on Zetterower road entering into a residential area heading toward Lakeview.
Once turning onto Lakeview the car crashed at the Dollar General.
The occupants of the car were taken into custody. There were no injuries reported.
Portions of Lakeview road was closed temporarily following the crash.
