Consumer Credit Counseling Service Savannah and Synovus are teaming up to offer a free First-Time Homebuyer Class on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2 East Main Street in Statesboro, with an option to participate via Zoom.
This one-day workshop will guide prospective homebuyers through every step of the process, from understanding credit scores and down-payment requirements to navigating mortgage applications and home inspections.
Attendees will hear from a team of local experts, including a mortgage lender who will explain loan-qualification criteria and interest-rate options; a real estate agent who will outline how to identify properties that fit individual budgets; and a home inspector who will demonstrate what to look for during final walkthroughs.
Additional presentations will cover budgeting strategies, hidden costs of homeownership (such as property taxes and homeowners’ insurance), and tips for working with realtors and lenders in today’s market.
By collaborating to host this event, CCCS Savannah and Synovus aim to remove common barriers to homeownership in Southeast Georgia—particularly for first-time buyers who may feel overwhelmed by the complexity of today’s housing market. Participants will leave with a clear roadmap for saving, budgeting, and confidently closing on their first home.
