Statesboro District 1 City Council candidates must file a notice of candidacy with the city August 20-22

To qualify for the special election to fill the City of Statesboro's vacant District 1 City Council seat, candidates must file notice of candidacy at Statesboro City Hall between August 20-22.

The City of Statesboro will hold a special election for the vacant District 1 City Council Seat on November 5, 2024.

At their August 6, 2024 meeting, the Statesboro City Council approved a resolution calling for the Special Election to fill the unexpired term of the vacant District One council seat, previously held by Phil Boyum.

Candidates who wish to qualify for the office of District 1 City Councilmember must file their notice of candidacy with the Election Superintendent for Qualifying at Statesboro City Hall during the dates of Tuesday, August 20th through Thursday, August 22nd from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The qualifying fee is $330.

The last day to register to vote in the election is Monday, October 7th.
