The Georgia WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is coming back to Bulloch County! Georgia WIC participants can use their eWIC card to stretch their dollars at a participating Farmers' Market.
The Georgia WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides eligible WIC participants with benefits valued at $30* to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating local farmers’ markets while supplies last.
Swing by the Bulloch County Health Department next Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4, between 9:00am and 2:00pm to receive fresh fruits and vegetables. Arrive early, as produce is limited.
What is the Georgia WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program?
The Georgia Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides WIC recipients with fresh, locally grown, unprocessed fruits, vegetables, and edible herbs at approved farmers market locations beginning May 1 through October 30 of each year. Benefits are issued to WIC recipients by participating health department clinics across the state once per year on a first-come, first-served basis through September 30.
The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered statewide by the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).
What are the eligibility requirements?
To be eligible for WIC FMNP program benefts, you must be actively enrolled as a WIC participant who is a/an:
- Pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding woman;
- Infant six months of age or older; or
- Child up to five years of age.
What do I receive as a WIC FMNP recipient?
- Benefits valued at $30* to purchase fresh produce from approved WIC FMNP locations;
- Nutrition education and information on the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables;
- Tips for selecting, preparing, and storing fresh fruits and vegetables;
- Money-saving advice; and
- Quick recipes.
