Job Title: Executive Director, Bulloch Strong, Inc.

Position Summary:
The Executive Director is the lead for Bulloch Strong, Inc. and is responsible for leading the organization’s mission to restore individuals, families, and communities impacted by disaster. The Executive Director oversees the daily operations of Bulloch Strong. They also assist the Board in strategic planning, community partnerships, coordination, fundraising, and the execution of recovery programs. This leader serves as the primary public representative and point of accountability for all operations of Bulloch Strong, Inc.
This is a grant-funded position with a term up to 12 months.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategic Direction
Lead Bulloch Strong, Inc., in fulfilling its mission and vision in accordance with its bylaws and Board direction.
Develop and implement long-range strategic plans, goals, and objectives in partnership with the Board of Directors.
Foster a culture of compassion, integrity, transparency, and resilience.
Program Oversight & Disaster Recovery Coordination
Coordinate long-term recovery services, including case management, construction, mental health support, financial assistance, and spiritual care. Ensure collaboration with voluntary agencies, government entities (FEMA, GEMA, Bulloch VOAD, Red Cross, et al.), and community-based organizations.
Oversee the efficient and equitable distribution of recovery resources.
Board & Committee Relations
Support the Board of Directors in its governance role; prepare reports and updates for regular board meetings.
Assist in the recruitment, orientation, and training of board members and committee volunteers.
Ensure board decisions are implemented and communicated to staff and partners.
Fund Development & Financial Management
Identify funding opportunities and oversee grant writing, donor engagement, and fundraising efforts.
Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, grant requirements, and audit standards.
Staff & Volunteer Management
Provide support and leadership development to volunteers, case managers, and construction teams.
Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
Public Relations & Community Engagement
Serve as a spokesperson for Bulloch Strong to the media, stakeholders, and the public.
Build strong relationships with local leaders, faith-based communities, and disaster survivors.
Represent the organization at community events, emergency management meetings, and regional disaster recovery coalitions.
Qualifications: Required:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, public policy, emergency management, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit leadership, community development, disaster recovery experience, or grant administration.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication, and leadership skills.
Experience in fundraising, financial management, and board relations.
Experience with Microsoft Office and other applications
Knowledge of disaster recovery systems and processes (e.g., FEMA, GEMA, VOAD, UMCOR, Red Cross, and other best practices).
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a related field or currently pursuing a master’s degree in a related field.
Previous experience leading a recovery group, response coalition, or multi-stakeholder nonprofit initiative.
Familiarity with case management systems, construction project coordination, and volunteer management.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid schedule with some remote flexibility and on-site presence.
Travel within the impacted region and to relevant conferences and meetings.
Occasional evening and weekend hours based on disaster response needs.
