Bulloch County Board of Education (BOE) held their first meeting of the year on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the William James Educational Complex Boardroom. The meeting was an organizational session board meeting which saw new and returning board members sworn in and officers elected.
With the swearing in of Liz Williams and Donna Clifton the eight member board is now equally divided with four women and four men.
Bulloch County Probate Judge Lorna Deloach presided over the swearing in Ceremony. Judge Deloach swore in new board members:
- Elizabeth (Liz) Williams, District 2
- Donna Clifton, District 4
Returning Board Members:
- Glennera Martin, District 5
- Jay Cook, District 6
Bulloch County Schools Superintendent Charles Wilson presided over the election of officers which included the election of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the board.
Glenn Womack, District 1 was elected Chairman of the Board
Elizabeth (Liz) Williams, District 2 was elected Vice Chairman of the Board
What an honor to serve as this board's Chair with each of these fine and diverse leaders," said Glenn Womack. "I think 2023 will be a phenomenal year."

Superintendent's Report
"We all mourn for the Bradley family during this time of tremendous loss of Eli Bradley," said Charles Wilson. "I am so proud of how our teams in the Bulloch Schools managed this tragedy and how they along with our community have wrapped our arms around this family."
Superintendent Charles Wilson invited system leaders to provide updates. First was Bethany Gilliam, Career Technical Agricultural Education Director with an update on the Wokforce Development Plan.
Then Crystal Simpkins, Early Learning & Literacy Director provided an update on the Bulloch Literacy Program.
Governor Kemp announced today that he will be proposing another $2,000 pay increase for teachers in the upcoming state budget. In Bulloch they are working to increase the local supplement to $2,500 for certified staff and another $3.00 per hour increase for non certified staff in the upcoming budget.

Board Member Comments
Each of the board members presented comments welcoming new and returning board members and provided thoughts and prayers to the Bradley family on the loss of their son.
They expressed unity and excitement in working together to move the Bulloch County School system forward focusing first on the children in the school system.
This will be a challenging year with all the rapid growth coming to Bulloch County and the school system.
Old Business
Approved an agreement to serve as the physical agent for the Family Connections program.
Executive Session
BOE went into a brief executive session tonight but no action was taken.
Personnel Recommendations
BOE approved all personnel recommendations.
