Jack Broadhead: Repping Georgia Tech and the Boro from 14,000 feet

Five years after his first tandem-skydiving jump, Jack Broadhead has found community by helping to rebuild the skydiving team at Georgia Tech and competing at national championships. Having earned his instructor rating, pilot's license and soon his Master's degree, Broadhead thanks the thrilling hobby for making him who he is today. 21 recipients celebrated at the 2024 Abbie DeLoach Foundation Scholarship Luncheon

ADF was founded in memory of Abbie DeLoach, who died on April 22, 2015, due to a tragic highway crash that also took the lives of four fellow Georgia Southern nursing students. Abbie was dedicated to serving others as a student athlete, a prospective nurse and a person of faith. The foundation’s mission is to continue her good works and, to date, 127 individuals and organizations have received an ADF scholarship.

Red Cross Home Fire Campaign saves four more lives in Georgia

Through the Home Fire Campaign in Georgia, the Red Cross of Georgia and local partners have installed more than 5,000 free smoke alarms in fiscal year 2024 and made nearly 2,150 households safer from the threat of home fires. A family of four in Jonesboro, GA, who had previously participated in the Home Fire Campaign, was saved in November 2023.
