The Bulloch County legislative delegation for the Georgia legislature praised local elected leaders, business leaders and community leaders for helping position Bulloch County to take advantage of opportunities created by economic development. With Statesboro and Bulloch County ranked with some of the highest poverty rates in the state, high paying jobs will help lift many from poverty.

The Bulloch County Board of Education reviewed the tentative FY 25 general fund and capital project expenditure budget at its Thursday, April 25, 2024 meeting. Read here for a summary of the expected costs and for links to presentations/video recording of the meeting.

Bulloch County firefighters and paramedics held an open house on Tuesday, April 30th, for their newly expanded fire station in Portal. The station now houses a staffed ambulance and fire engine.

Brooklet City Council met on Thursday April 18, 2024, and discussed approval of the preliminary Smart Bulloch 2045 joint comprehensive plan. They also heard from local business owner Tiffany Guerrero about her ideas for downtown revitalizations and proclaimed the week of April 21-27, 2024 as Garden Week. The Bulloch County Board of Education met April 11, 2024. They recognized the Langston Chapel Middle School basketball team and got an update from the school. Marty Holder also updated the Board on the county's LEAP program to address extreme behavioral issues.

Out of 51 eligible alumni communities, 4 communities were selected for the second phase of review, which consisted of a site visit. After the site visit, Statesboro was selected as one of the inaugural communities. GICH Senior Year will allow the City of Statesboro to receive technical assistance from the Carl Vinson Institute, Georgia Municipal Association, and Department of Community Affairs on several housing and development-related grants.

The city noise ordinance was reinstated, Azul Tex-Mex Express was granted an alcohol license and development on Jones Mill Road will proceed with the approval of a preliminary subdivision PLAT for the construction of 152 townhome units. Click on the image to read about all City business covered.

After months of planning and meetings, Bulloch County held their final Comprehensive Plan public hearing. No citizens spoke at the hearing. The Commissioners voted to approve the preliminary plan for submittal to DCA. Click on the picture to read about all business covered at the meeting.
