The Statesboro High School (SHS) Lady Devils hosted Eagles Landing High School out of Henry County in the first round of the state playoffs on Tuesday, April 18.
Julia Basquin put the Devils up 1-0 with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.
“Basquin is playing the best tennis of her career right now and just rolling through her opponents,” said Brian Hall, SHS girls tennis coach.
Ada Lacienski and Lindsay Collins continued the great play with a 6-2, 6-0 win at second doubles to put the Devils up 2-0. Maggie Proctor and Jolee Jordan locked up the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at first doubles.
Naomi Feltman was just behind with a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles to give the Devils the win.
Anna Washington was up in her match and Annalia Small and Annabelle Jaeckel won 8-1 in an exhibition match.
