The Georgia Southern women's golf team is reloading for the 2025-26 season on the heels of its national championship appearance by welcoming several talented new faces to the squad. Highlighted by four notable transfers, the Eagles are poised to add both depth and experience to the roster under the leadership of head coach Mimi Burke.
Keely Johnson, a standout at Emmanuel College, joins Georgia Southern after capturing the individual title at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship. The Georgia native brings a championship mindset and local ties, offering both competitive fire and regional familiarity.
Ida Lundh, from Gisvaled, Sweden, is headed to Statesboro after a strong season at Nova Southeastern, where she recorded a 75.7 scoring average during the 2024-25 campaign. Lundh's impressive resume contains multiple Freshman of the Week honors while at Mississippi College.
Maddy Pytura, from Ottawa, Canada, arrives in Statesboro after a solid season with Saint Leo. Matching Lundh's scoring average of 74.9, Pytura finished the year with four top-25 finishes.
Haven Ward, from Atlanta, Georgia, previously at the University of Denver, rounds out the transfer class. She placed eighth at the 2025 Summit League Championship and brings valuable postseason experience to the squad.
Alongside the transfer talent coming in, the incoming freshman Margaux Brejo (Fontainebleau, France), who signed with the Eagles in November and could play a big role in shaping the team's future.
Georgia Southern is coming off a Top-25 finish at the NCAA Championship this past May and a season that saw the Eagles soar on and off the course.
With the incoming class headed their way to the 'Boro soon, there's already a sense that this group of talent adds the kind of depth and long-term promise every program looks for. With big aspirations heading into the season, the Eagles will soon get a first look at how all the new pieces fit together. It's a roster that blends experienced, battle-tested transfers with young, hungry players ready to prove themselves.
That balance gives Georgia Southern plenty to be excited about heading into the new season and the kind of foundation that could pay off well beyond it.
