Mark Henry “Marty” Brant

Mark Henry “Marty” Brant, beloved husband, dad and G-dad passed away unexpectedly, January 9, 2024, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia due to complications after surgery.

Marty was born in Fairfax, SC on December 28, 1959, the twin son of the late Joseph Jasper "Jack" Brant and Amaryllis B. Brant of Ulmer.

Marty graduated from Sheldon Academy in 1978 and shortly afterward began his career with CSX before joining Ogeechee Railway as General Manager. He later relocated to Columbia, where he was owner of Carpentry Plus Construction Company before retiring and moving to Yemassee, SC. He loved his family and lived life on the edge - there’s only one football team - the dawgs!  And God is the way to turn your life around. An avid woodworker, Marty built many things for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Hulsey Brant; Children, Katy Gourdin (Chris), Marlee McKenzie (Taylor) of Statesboro, Tyler Brant (Taylor), Tanner Goude; Grandchildren, Eason Donaldson, Henslee Owens, Beckham Brant, Blythe Brant, Brantley Goude, Greyson Goude, and Jackson Goude; Brother, Tony Brant and twin brother, Rick Brant (Dana).

Marty was predeceased by his parents, his mother-in-law, Robyn DeVecchis, and son-in-law, Chase Goude.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Phibbs, Chris Gourdin, Eason Donaldson, Michael Harmon, Mitch McCaskill, and Taylor McKenzie.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by Jeff Mayo with burial in the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery in Ulmer.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery Fund, PO Box 8, Ulmer, SC 29849.
