James Robert Causey, Sr.

Mr. James Robert Causey, Sr., 79, of Springfield, GA, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

James was born on May 26, 1945 to the late Roy Clark Causey, Sr., and Evelyn Gladys Wilson Causey at the family home in Springfield. He worked for Warren Poythress as a land surveyor for over 20 years. James was a simple God fearing man and was known to be hard working. He was known very well in Screven and Effingham counties and was a very humble man; but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren more than anything. His grandchildren affectionately referred to him as the "Man of Steel". James was a member of the Turkey Branch Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Fallon Kaly Causey, and brothers, Raymond A. Causey, Herman C. Causey, and Roy Clark "Clarkie" Causey, Jr.

He is survived by his sons, James Robert "Little Bobby" ( Tammy Ann) Causey, of Newington and Shawn (Blair) Causey, of Sylvania; daughter, Mellissa Kay "Melissa" Causey, of Springfield; stepsons, Joey Myrick, Eddie Myrick, Ricky Myrick, and Rusty Rozier; grandchildren, Ethan James Causey, Dakota Victoria (Levi) Tucker, Logan Stone Causey, Zeb Walker Causey, Garrett McCrae Edwards, Kaleb Causey, and Kassidy Causey; great-grandchildren, Miah Nicole Tucker, Waylon James Tucker, and Audrey Rae Causey; a sister, Lillian Gladys Weaver; and a special friend, Diego Diaz; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Edward Proctor, Joey Myrick, Zeb Causey, Garrett Edwards, Levi Tucker, Logan Causey, and Kaleb Causey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Naylor, Gill Stewart, Stanley Weaver, Diego Diaz, and Devaughn Wright.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Joiner Anderson Screven Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 23, 2025 at Turkey Branch Baptist Church in Springfield at 1:00 PM.

Interment will follow in the Turkey Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
