This week, the Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Department announced the promotion of one long-time employee as well as the hiring of a new supervisor for part of the county.

Cannon Petitjean has been promoted to Parks Division Manager, having previously served for 20 years in the department. During that time, he has played an integral role in the care and development of the department's parks and facilities.

BCRP shares that Petitjean's passion for serving the community and his deep knowledge of the park system make him the perfect fit for this leadership role.

In addition, Cam Buchanan has been named Athletic Supervisor for the south end of Bulloch County. He will oversee athletics at the Brooklet, Nevils, and Stilson Parks, with his office based at the Brooklet Community Building in Brooklet Park.

According to BCRP, Buchanan brings valuable experience from both Effingham County Recreation and Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball, and the department is excited to add his knowledge and energy to the team.

The Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Department’s mission is to provide quality, diversity, wholesome parks, and recreation services to meet the needs of the citizens of Bulloch County.

The department maintains and operates eight recreation areas encompassing more than 213 acres and oversees 28 buildings. Included in these parks are 38 athletic fields, 10 tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, 11 outdoor basketball courts, walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds and picnic pavilions.

In 2024, the department was named Agency of the Year by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA), an honor it has earned multiple times.
