New pastor to be installed at Trinity Presbyterian

Pastor Jim McCarthy with wife Jordan and their four children

Following the retirement of its longtime leader Rev. Roland Barnes, Trinity Presbyterian Church will soon welcome a new pastor. Jim McCarthy will be installed by the church on the evening of May 28 and will officially begin preaching on Sunday, June 4.

McCarthy is a native of Jacksonville, FL, who was converted to faith in Jesus Christ at an Fellowship of Christian Athletes summer camp in middle school. He felt the call to ministry during his freshman year at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, from which he graduated in 2008 with degrees in history and religious studies.

He enrolled at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in August of 2011 and moved there with his wife and best friend, Jordan, to prepare for a life of gospel ministry. He graduated from seminary in 2015 and has enjoyed the privilege of serving as the senior pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, FL, from 2016-2018 and the First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg, MS, from 2018-2022. He was then called as the second senior pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Statesboro.

Jim says he looks forward to carrying on the faithful legacy of his predecessor and Trinity's founding pastor, Rev. Roland Barnes, by preaching the word of Jesus Christ and shepherding the flock of God together with Trinity's elders and deacons.

Jim and Jordan, along with their four children Ellie (10), Julia (7), Locke (5), and Bo (2) will be relocating to Statesboro this summer.
