The Kiwanis Club of Statesboro installed new officers for the 2023-2024 term this week. Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor Trish Tootle installed the new board of directors and the officers including Matt Anderson as President.
Outgoing President Christopher Wiggins passed the gavel on to Matt Anderson after the installation.
Wiggins has led the club through and extraordinary year.
“From our successful Fair and Rodeo fundraisers, we were able to continue our $25,000 annual funding of Project Eaglet, a program that allows EVERY 1st- 5th grader in the Bulloch County School system to visit the GSU Botanic Gardens, Center for Wildlife Education, Museum, Planetarium, and Gretsch School of Music. Our club also funded $50,000 worth of scholarships to deserving college applicants. We’ve financially supported our senior citizens, first responders, and countless other deserving organizations with donations over $120,000 in 2022-2023," said Christopher Wiggins.
"Our service projects have supplied Fostering Bulloch with back-to-school supplies, clothing, and moral support. We’ve donated toiletry products to Prevent Child Abuse to help create toiletry closets and pantries for kids who do not have access to these items. We’ve made over 5,000 bagged lunches at Rebecca’s Café helping those who are unsure of where their next meal will come from," Wiggins added. "We sponsored two new Key Clubs at Statesboro High and Bulloch Academy High in 2022-2023. We do all of this because you CARE!”
