The city of Statesboro’s Healthy Boro Committee, a mayoral-appointed group of community members, wants to ensure everyone in the community stays healthy this holiday season with their pop-up vaccine clinic.
“As much as we’d like to think COVID is in the past, it’s still here,” said Healthy Boro committee member Stacy Smallwood. “With the flu also spreading, we have to take care of ourselves and our neighbors. Vaccines are still a key part of keeping our community safe and healthy.”
The committee will be hosting a flu and COVID vaccine pop-up clinic for the community on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library.
Flu vaccines are available for those age six-months to age 64.
COVID vaccines and bivalent boosters will be available for those ages five through adult.
Bivalent boosters, which target the circulating omicron strains, are recommended at least two months after completing the initial vaccine series in most cases. For detailed information on booster eligibility, click here.
The Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE), a partner of the Georgia Department of Public Health, will be administering vaccines and bivalent boosters.
The library is located at 124 S. Main Street in Statesboro. For more information about this vaccine pop up, please contact the Healthy Boro Committee at healthyborocommittee@gmail.com.
