Tormenta FC W League drops 2–0 to NC Courage U23

Tormenta Womens League

South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL W League squad returned to the pitch Thursday morning after a weather delay postponed Wednesday evening’s match, ultimately dropping 2–0 to the defending USL W League champions, NC Courage U23, at Tormenta Stadium.

The visitors struck first in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a corner that connected inside the box and was headed past the Tormenta keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Despite the early setback, Tormenta created several dangerous chances throughout the match. Forward Constance Agyemang nearly leveled the score with a powerful strike that missed just over the top left corner of the net. Midfielder Chinatsu Kaio tested the Courage keeper with a strike late in the first half and again in the second. Tormenta Academy alumna Vivianna Gutierrez also had several promising chances after entering the match in the second half, but South Georgia could not break through.

NC Courage U23 extended their lead in the 64th minute, sealing the result despite a strong push from the home side.

After a much-needed break, Tormenta FC is back in W League action on Saturday, June 21, taking on Wake FC for their final home match at Tormenta Stadium.

In USL League One play, the men’s side hosts FC Naples on Wednesday, June 25, for Western Wear Night. The team will then welcome USL Championship’s Charleston Battery on Saturday, June 28 in the Jägermeister Cup.
